Restoran Selera Kebun
About This Spot
Restoran Selera Kebun sits quietly amid the lush hills of Kundasang, welcoming visitors with the calm energy of a cozy countryside refuge. The moment you arrive, the gentle bustle of families and travelers fills the air—conversations ebb and flow alongside the steady clinking of plates, punctuated by the warm smiles of staff who seem genuinely glad to share a taste of local life.
This is a place where the pace slows just enough to savor the surroundings—the cooler mountain air mingles effortlessly with the rich aromas wafting from the kitchen, hinting at the hearty, smoky flavors to come. The setting itself feels inviting yet unpretentious, a natural gathering spot where the comfort of familiar dishes offers a quiet kind of joy amid the rugged beauty of Sabah.
Dining here means sharing moments over plates that reflect the region’s vibrant culinary traditions, from dishes infused with herbal smokiness and gentle spice to home-style accompaniments that feel like an embrace. The food unfolds as much more than a meal—it’s a connection to the land and its rhythms, best experienced at a leisurely pace with friends or new acquaintances alike. The presence of free-flow drinks adds to this relaxed hospitality, encouraging lingering conversations as the afternoon unfolds.
The restaurant pulses with life, especially after a day of exploring nearby farms or outdoor adventures, where locals and wanderers alike come together to recharge. While the busy atmosphere and occasional interruptions—like playful flies drawn to the open-air charm—remind you that this is a genuine local spot, they only deepen the sense that you’re part of something authentic and unfiltered.
Ultimately, Restoran Selera Kebun is not just about the dishes, but about the quiet interweaving of flavors, stories, and smiles that make Kundasang feel like home, if only for a few hours.

Dropping by for lunch after visiting the farm and caught in Jam. Coming over for late lunch and was still busy around 14:30. Oder few dishes for sharing and taste was OK. Price also reasonable for tourists place. The sate was finished instead we order chicken wing. Overall good dining experience. Only complaint is lots of flies.

We went here after an ATV tour. It was very busy so it must be good, but we soon had a place. I ordered deer spicy and it sure was a spicy deer. But so incredible tasty. Also the 2 soups were tasty and spicy I loved it. My wife ordered chicken and fried rice, delicious (rico in Spanish). Also the people who work here were very friendly and hospitable, they were interested where we came from. I am Dutch but my wife is Ecuadorian. She must have been the first Ecuadorian who visited that place and they wanted to know where the country is. An excellent place to stop when you are in the area and want to try local (Muslim) food.

Tried Selera Kebun Kundasang and loved it! We were soo lucky to get in as the place is always packed!! We had the daging salai masak lemak cili api and ayam salai masak lemak cili api — super tasty, smoky, creamy, and just the right spice. Cozy spot, friendly service, perfect comfort food for Kundasang’s cool weather. Highly recommended!

Kami ordered ayam penyet bakar, kambing bakar, and 2 buttermilk chicken with rice, ayam salai (wings & tongking). The food is okay EXCEPT the buttemilk chickentawar but im sure they can do better next time. If mau dtg sini, do not go during peak hours sebab susah mau parking. Limited space walaupun ada more parking space kat bawah . Sempit Yet, we are lucky enough we didnt experience having our meal with banyak lalat as some reviewers cakap banyak lalat. And service dia very good. Cepat!! So overall, 4 stars out of 5 stars :D

Ordered this set for 2 pax. The price is around RM65. I would say the food is delicious, and the taste really gives a Semenanjung vibe. The daging lada putih is the best. The only downside is the presence of flies, perhaps the restaurant could do something about it to provide a more pleasant experience for customers.

Quite possibly our best meal on the mountain. The food was good, especially the grilled lamb. Excellent taste and texture - most memorable! Prices also reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Parking slightly challenging as the parking area was tight and crowded, and it was not easy with our van. But when we tasted the lamb, the effort felt worth it.
